I love promoting nutrition and a great power food that can be prepared in so many different ways one may never get bored of them is the egg. the calories in eggs promote strong bones as they contain vitamin D. Vitamin D is important, as it is crucial to how your body absorbs calcium and promotes healthy bone structure. This is why I consider eggs to be a natural power food.

There are 2 different ways to prepare eggs and they DRASTICALLY change the calorie count when consumed. The calories in eggs do have their skeletons in the closet and that is the fact that the yoke contains cholesterol. Although the USDA recently reported that the amount of cholesterol in a single large egg has decreased by 14% the facts are the facts and eggs do have cholesterol when prepared w/ the yoke. The food calorie calculator says a whole egg w/ the yoke contains somewhere in the vicinity of about 85 calories depending on its size. I for one love eggs and eat them frequently since I do not have cholesterol problems but what if someone DOES have high cholesterol and still wants to enjoy eggs? They can also consume the incredible edible egg. You can take that yoke right out of the egg and enjoy the whites. Removing the yoke from the egg not only eliminates the cholesterol, it rings the egg whites in at just 18 calories on the food calorie calculator depending on the size of the egg.

As I stated previously, I use eggs quite a bit in my recipes. Eggs aren't just what's for breakfast anymore either. Sure you can fix them the usual way sunny side up, scrambled, or in the million different varieties of omelets one could whip together but there are so many more ways that you can introduce eggs into your diet. In Asian cuisine you can find eggs amongst the noodles & rice of infinite recipes including some of my favorites, soups! The French use eggs as a staple in many of their dishes including souffles and quiches. While in Mexico eggs are so versatile they're used in everything from tortillas to full blown flavor blasted dishes such as Chili Renellos. If you enjoy cooking you LITERALLY can get as creative as you could possibly want with eggs. Just be careful as they can be a delicate ingredient and need special attention when adding them into most recipes.

In closing when consumed in moderation eggs are a very important part of a well balanced diet. There are so many health issues that can be avoided the older that you get by committing yourself to a healthier diet now. The calories in eggs not only taste great but are rich in protein that is crucial to a long lasting healthy bone structure that will last your whole life. So which came first? The chicken or the egg? I ask does it really matter as long as the chickens keep producing those incredible edible eggs!
